My Solar Powered Boat

A solar powered boat, needs no batteries only sun light. It is a small step but can be scaled up to a real human size, solving real problems. But for now, I just want to understand the principles involved

My Solar Powered Boat
The question I started with

I was curious about free and cheap energy. Can we really use solar energy to power up devices? Can these solar powered devices solve real world problems.

How I approached it

My robot initially used a battery as a source of energy. My dad bought me a rechargeable battery but that means I have to charge them all the time and it takes long to charge and also uses electricity from the house which costs money. I wanted free energy, So I started playing with the solar component.

What happened

I struggled a bit. I thought it wasn't going to work, but eventually the wheels started spinning when I exposed the solar panel to the sun

What I learned

Things can be powered up using solar energy, in my case I needed direct sun light.

What I’d like to try next

I will like to convert the solar energy into a power bank, like a battery. This will allow me to use the robot even when there is no sun light
